http tests suddenly flapping

My Xymon server is suddenly throwing http alerts even though all our servers are running just fine.  The Xymon pages say they're 'flapping'.  In tasks.cfg I have --timeout=25 set in the {xymonnet} section because I also have content checks on some of our pages that take some time to render.  Things have been running fine for months this way.  Now the tests seem to be 'flapping'.  Any ideas?  Could this be a simple DNS issue?
