Ms-SQL is running on Windows.
So : 1) install old good BBWin as XyMon monitoring agent and setup it to sent basic information (cpu, ram, disk, etc.) to XyMon server
2) configure BBWin to report services availability with names, including "SQL" , optionally with auto-restart feature
3) Monitor anything You need using custom scripts as BBWin extensions or find ready ones in the web.
