Hobbit Patching HowTo

I just downloaded and setup hobbit 4.2.0 then read about the allinone
patch.

 
My question is, do you need to recompile hobbit after applying the
patch, and if you do so what all do you need to do so you keep all your
config data, i.e. bb-hosts, etc...
