Port check from server

Is it possible to test a TCP port on a remote machine with the Hobbit
server?  I have some applications that can't be tested with anything
standard (HTTP, SMTP, etc).  I'm just looking for a basic acknowledgement
that the TCP port is listening on the host being monitored.
