Hi Ryan,

as I wrote in my mail yesterday I think you need to use the locgroup statement
for every locsubpage and then add a LOC:a538,1 to your bb-hosts.
I don't think that it will work without this statement.

Regards
Torsten

Here are my alternate pages:

# Offer alternate view by physical location
locpage nwk Newark Campus
locsubpage c630a MSB C630A, IST/EI-AS Non-Production Data Center
locsubpage a538 MSB A538, IST/EI Data Center
locpage msu Montclair State University
locsubpage uh6 University Hall 6th Fl, MSU-Hosted Data Center
locpage pisc Piscataway Campus
locsubpage sb11 RWJMS S-B11, IST/EI Data Center

And here are some from the hosts:

subpage lumtst Luminis Testing/Development
group-compress <H3><I>Luminis Testing/Development</I></H3>
10.136.100.125 blaven.umdnj.edu # CLIENT:blaven LOC:sb11
"DOWNTIME=ldap,ldaps,sslcert:*:2200:2300:Development/Test Systems Cold
Backup"
10.32.8.35 tryfan.umdnj.edu # CLIENT:tryfan LOC:a538 noconn
!telnet !ftp
10.136.100.121 alasdair.umdnj.edu # CLIENT:alasdair LOC:sb11
10.136.100.124 storr.umdnj.edu # CLIENT:storr LOC:sb11
10.32.8.244 lomand.umdnj.edu # CLIENT:lomand LOC:a538
"DOWNTIME=ldap,ldaps,sslcert:*:2200:2300:Development/Test Systems Cold

10.32.8.243 lum4test.umdnj.edu # CLIENT:lum4test LOC:a538

I don't have locations defined on every host in the file (because some
of them I don't care about showing really). I'm assuming that's
alright. Anything jumping out at anyone?

I use it extensively and have never had a problem with it. Maybe if
you could post a fragment of your alternate page sets definitions
and a couple of lines from hosts.cfg?

Thanks, Larry Barber

Does no one use this feature, or does it "just work" for others?

Any ideas here? I'm pretty sure I followed the directions
correctly.

Hi all,
A couple of problems with alternate pagesets on Xymon 4.2.3
(I'll be upgrading to 4.3.x shortly). Just to give a little
background information, I have a virtualhost (xymon) pointing
/ on xymon to /opt/xymon/server/www . I also have one server
running the Xymon display and two Solaris zones running half
of the network tests each (so three different places where the
bb-hosts file exists). The issues:
1) All of the links/embedded images are asking for
/hobbit/gifs/<imgfile>.gif, despite the fact that this is the
code I'm using on the bbgen command:
BBWEB="/loc" $BBHOME/bin/bbgen --pageset=loc $BBHOME/www/loc/
...as per the manual. Adding a symbolic link in the /
directory (in this case /opt/xymon/server/www) hobbit -> .
solves the problem, but it makes no sense to me.
2) bbgen runs fine, generates the whole webpage structure, but
all of the subpages where the hosts are supposed to appear are
blank.
I've used xxpage and xxsubpage and then defined on the host
lines XX:<subpagename>. Originally I had the xxpage/xxsubpage
stuff at the bottom of the file and noticed that doesn't work,
and I moved it to the top and now this is where I'm stuck.
Any ideas or questions?
