what words to monitor for in /var/log/messages?

I have moved over the stuff (words) we look for on HP-UX. Mainly for hardware errors. But I don't have anything readily at hand for a Linux server. What sort of stuff should I look for? I found a post on line that said panic and error. Seems fair enough - so I stuffed those in.
