Hello,
I'm not sure which version of Ubuntu you are using but up to Ubuntu 13.10
(Saucy) only hobbit-client 4.2.0 is available in ubuntu repositories. This
has been replaced by xymon-client 4.3.7 in Ubuntu 14.04.
As for the later upgrades - the xymon package should recognize that hobbit
was installed on the server before and migrate the settings, but I'm not
sure whether it migrates any custom extension scripts (in case that you use
any).
Also the IP address of hobbit/xymon server can be configured in
/etc/default/hobbit-client (/etc/default/xymon-client respectively) instead
of changing BBDISP variable in hobbitclient.cfg.

Regards,
Martin

about it. There has got to be a more up todate repository.

Thanks Paul -- I added BBDISP="ip address" to the hobbitclient.cfg and
that did the trick.

I'm using an old client because it is what is available from the default
repository when I do a 'apt-get install blah'.

My superiors wants to keep it this way for future updates to work
flawlessly.

I'm assuming if it is in the unbuntu default repository it was QAed and
tested -- correct me if I am wrong.

So why are you using such
an old client on a new install?

 Did you edit the
~hobbit/client/etc/hobbitclient.cfg file and put the IP
address of your server in the BBDISP field?

The errors are telling us that
the client can't talk to the hobbit server.

 Seriously consider upgrading
 to xymon 4.3 something.

Subject: [Xymon] cleint not reporting to hobbit
 server

 Greetings,

I have this one linux client
that is not reporting 'disk', 'cpu',
'ssh' and the custom external script raid-monitor to
 the hobbit server.

 What is
 reporting is 'conn', 'info', and
 'trends'.

 I
installed the client with 'apt-get install
 hobbit-client' on a ubuntu server.

 On the hobbitclient.log, it indicates:
2014-08-12 09:16:27 Cannot determine IP address
 of message recipient 10.218.275.25
2014-08-12 09:16:27 Whoops ! bb failed to send
 message - Cannot resolve hostname
 /usr/lib/hobbit/client/bin/hobbitclient-linux.sh:

 /usr/lib/hobbit/client/bin/hobbitclient-linux.sh:

 of message recipient 10.218.275.25
2014-08-12 09:21:27 Whoops ! bb failed to send
 message - Cannot resolve hostname

 On the clientlaunch.log, it indicates,
 2014-08-12 08:51:18 hobbitlaunch starting
 2014-08-12 08:51:18 Loading tasklist
 configuration from /etc/hobbit/clientlaunch.cfg
 2014-08-12 08:51:18 Task raid-monitor
 terminated, status 2

 On the
hobbit server in the /etc/hobbit/bb-hosts, it indicates:
 xxx..xxx.xxx.xxx server01 #raid

Will somebody lead me in the
 right direction, thanks in advance.
