Compiling hobbit snapshot on Redhat ES3U3

When I try to configure the snapshot release I get the following error.

Checking for RRDtool ...
cc1: unrecognized option `-Wno-strict-aliasing'
make: *** [test-compile] Error 1
Not RRDtool 1.0.x, checking for 1.2.x
cc1: unrecognized option `-Wno-strict-aliasing'
make: *** [test-compile] Error 1
ERROR: RRDtool include files found in /usr/local/rrdtool-1.0.49/include, 
but compile fails.

Is this because its the snapshot ?
