Either the c compiler is not installed or not in your path. You need to
install gcc compiler too: There is an rpm installalbe gcc already compiled
for AIX. check out http://www.perzl.org/aix/index.php?n=Main.Gcc After
you install the compiler remove the xymon makefile config and rerun your
confirmation.

This may be a silly question, but have you read the install documentation?
It's not clear where you're having trouble if you already built the
software.
