It's one of those things that looks extremely simple - nagios plugins run at the command line and return an integer value and a pile of text and some data - but the devil is probably in the
details . I'm going to cobble something up for proof of concept. (need to decide whether I need to re-parse the command line, or whether I want to)

programming skills are insufficient :-(
