We see this on one of our AIX Oracle DB servers.
The problem in our case is unkillable defunct processes. We get more and more until we reboot the server.

Subject: [hobbit] Oversize data/client problem
Hey all, I have a server that keeps growing on its msg's, every time I bump the thresholds for client data it takes a couple weeks but it's at the threshold again. Is there any obvious causes of this that I am missing? The server is a MySQL db server and has not been changed in the last couple months at all.
