You can also use the CLASS tag/parameter to define your particular group of devices. From the bb-hosts man page:
CLASS:Classname Force the host to belong to a specific class. Class-names are used when configuring log-file monitoring (they can be used as references in client-local.cfg(5) and hobbit-clients.cfg(5) to group logfile checks). Normally, class-names are controlled on the client by starting the Hobbit client with the "--class=Classname" option. If you specify it in the bb-hosts file on the Hobbit server, it overrides any classname that the client reports.

not possible as other boxes also share the same os version. Solved this issue for now, by writing a simple shell script which creates the create-local.cfg file Thanks

Reference : 20060512060555.GA29769 @ hswn. dk It is not clear what support there is for regular expressions, perhaps it is already there for ignore, and trigger, but not log, file or the hostname?

Exactly

Is it possible to use regular expression in client-local.cfg to specify hostname(s), as I could do so in hobbit-clients.cfg? I tried the same regular expression as in hobbit-client.cfg and it doesn't work. Tried on few servers without regular expression on hostnames and it worked.
Please help as I have to configure clientt-local.cfg for hundreds of servers :(
        Thanks
