Hi Jeremy,

thanks for your reply. So I'm not alone ;-)
The following packages have been updated:

Jun 17 05:23:34 Updated: kernel-firmware-2.6.32-642.el6.noarch
Jun 17 05:23:36 Updated: ntpdate-4.2.6p5-10.el6.1.x86_64
Jun 17 05:23:37 Updated: ntp-4.2.6p5-10.el6.1.x86_64
Jun 17 05:23:37 Updated: ntp-perl-4.2.6p5-10.el6.1.x86_64
Jun 17 05:23:52 Installed: kernel-2.6.32-642.el6.x86_64
Jun 17 05:23:55 Updated: kernel-headers-2.6.32-642.el6.x86_64

On Jun 17 at 06:31 devmon stops for the first time and after that every
one or two days. Even after rebooting the machine. Meanwhile I created a
script in cron.hourly that restarts devmon every hour. But I wonder why
this happened immediately after the update.

Used to happen to me also. I think I ended up having a cron job test,
kill and restart. But that was a long time ago, and it hasn't been a
problem for a while. Sorry I can't help other than to confirm it's not
just you, and also happens with older kernels.

It might not be the kernel that did it. You'll have rebooted to get the
new kernel running, so it could have been caused by any other effect of
rebooting. For instance, the fault might have been triggered by simply
stopping and starting devmon. If you're at liberty to boot back to the
previous kernel, you might find it still has problems.
